Hello and happy Monday to all of our lovely readers! It is an even better Monday than usual because today is the day we launch our IndieGoGo campaign! As you may recall from our earlier post (The Organization Formerly Known as ONELIFE) we are in the process of creating and building an app to make connecting to charity even easier.
However, this is the real world and building apps costs money. Lots of money. Over $100,00 in fact. And it has to be real money, not Monopoly - we tried that. Apparently software designers don't want to be paid in miniature blue and pink bills. So we are going to need you and everyone else you know to share this post of our campaign video as much as possible. If you have yet to see our IndieGoGo video, check it out right HERE. Our app will be finished in 2016, so all we ask is for people who believe in our goal of making charity accessible to donate $20.16 to our campaign. You can donate HERE. Then, go ahead and tell us you gave #2016for2016 on your favorite social media! (If you are supporting one of the POINT members in their personal campaigns you can write their name in the comments section of your donation!)
Maybe you're asking yourself why we need all this money and why you should donate to our campaign. That's okay! Here's why. Building an app is not simple. It takes months, sometimes years, to code the app and all of that time has a hefty price tag. For a start-up non-profit, it's not easy to front that bill. Plus, we are creating a new form of social media. You will be able to see local events, interact with your friends and neighbors, plus see what is going on in the charity world in different places. When you donate, you have a way to see exactly who your contribution is helping, and where your hard-earned money is going. Charity is often seen as somewhat removed; you may contribute to causes, but that is where your involvement ends. We don't like that. With the POINT app, you will be able to stay connected to your cause and really feel and understand that what you do makes a difference.
I will be sharing more about our mission and the campaign as it progresses, but for now we just ask that you do two things:
1. Share our IndieGoGo video with as many people as you can and ask them to do the same.
2. Donate #2016for2016 (or any amount you can, even if its only a penny)
Keep calm & make POINT happen.
